Instructional Course for Facial Paralysis Reconstruction

Pre-Congress Workshop (25-26 October 2011),
the 3rd Mayo Clinic & Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Combined Meeting for Reconstructive Microsurgery (28-30 October 2011)

The course will include live surgery and lectures. Each day has three live surgeries. The first day (Tuesday, October 25) will focus on the classic reconstruction, including (1) 1st Stage Cross-Face Nerve Graft;, (2) 2nd stage using gracilis Functioning Free Muscle Transplantation (FFMT), and (3) 2nd stage using pectoralis minor FFMT for facial reanimation. The second day (Wednesday, October 26) will focus on one stage FFMT, using contralateral facial nerve branch, ipsilateral masseter nerve branch, and ipsilateral spinal accessory nerve. Distinguished experts in this field have been invited, including: Dr. Wayne Morrison (Australia, moderator and lecturer), Dr. Ronald Zuker (Canada, moderator and lecturer), Adriaan Grobbelaar (UK, surgeon and lecturer), Dr. Paul J Guelinckx (Belgium, surgeon and lecturer), Dr. Ichiro Tanaka (Japan, surgeon and lecturer) and me (Taiwan, surgeon and lecturer).

The 3rd Mayo Clinic & Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Combined Meeting for Reconstructive Microsurgery will be held at the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital (CGMH), October 28 (Friday) - October 30 (Sunday), 2011. Given this opportunity, the CGMH Microsurgery team will host a two day Pre-Congress Instructional Course for Facial Paralysis Reconstruction on October 25 (Tuesday) and October 26 (Wednesday), 2011. This facial nerve symposium will solely focus on reconstructive microsurgery.
There is one day (Thursday, October 27, 2011) without a scheduled program between these two meetings which allows leisure activities.
