Face and Neck Surgery
Plastic surgery techniques carried out in the face and neck region are some of the most frequently performed surgical procedures overall. Its importance is evident in order to manage reconstructive problems secondary to the increasing incidence of facial skin cancer and to the continuous prevalence of vehicle accidents. The interest of society in this area is seen not only with the media awareness on the emerging field of facial transplantation for severely disfigured patients, but also with the increasing demand for medical and surgical solutions to improve the signs of aging in a society with a rising life expectancy.
Objectives
• To understand the importance of reconstructive microsurgery in order to manage complex reconstructions of the face and neck.
• To discuss new advancements and refinements in aesthetic surgery of the face and neck.
• To evaluate different platismoplasty technical manoeuvres to improve the neck.
• To discuss and present different procedures to manage difficult defects in the cheek, chin and lip regions.
• To provide a review and state-of-the-art standard of care on ancillary cosmetic procedures of the face and neck, including
botulinum toxin, fillers and skin resurfacing-tightening treatments.
• To review the latest advancements and refinements on neck-lift surgery.
• To confront and discuss the different technical approaches to the SMAS Iayer in facelift surgery.
• To provide a field for discussion and networking between faculty and assistants.
